Introduction

This website details the efforts put into a submission for the CWU MET RC Baja competition, from design and decisions to manufacturing and assembly.

Overall, this project ended up a success however there were a few hiccups along the way. The straight-line speed test presented the most issues, as mechanical failures played to the first three trials. This being said, after redesigning almost the entire gear train and differential for reliability, top speeds of up to 23 mph were Achieved. This is shown in table H1. The deflection test was also success, as one undergoing 50 pounds of force applied to the center of the frame, the base plate did not deflect more than 1/16th of an inch.

Why RC Baja?

RC Baja provides a competitive environment in which to design. The small scale of the competition means every aspect of the vehicle is in some way tailored to the challenges, and provides excellent experience in design and operation.
